SocialCoast inspires a culture of activism in the place we call home by promoting, supporting, and celebrating local grassroots community organizing.
Our goal is to contribute to the growth and health of this community by inspiring people to engage in activities that contribute to the overall welfare of the communities we live in. We believe that responsible and thoughtful engagement in our actions is the best way to cause positive, long lasting change in the place we inhabit everyday.
By encouraging a welcoming, informed and even fun atmosphere leading up to and during our actions, we hope to demystify the elements of activism that tend to discourage those who would otherwise happily join us in the enterprise of hope and optimism. With this in mind, our other constant aim is to drive forward with utter sincerity, determination, and enthusiasm.
In our organizing, we work to reveal systemic oppression and inequalities through the fight for environmental, social, and economic justice. We organize with people and groups who are sustaining a community principled on equality, autonomy, and compassion.
How we do it:
At SocialCoast, we are building a foundation for local grassroots organizing based upon three strategies:
A sense of responsibility begins with a relationship. Through the promotion of grassroots organizing and community interests, we begin to connect people with a culture of activism. That connection becomes the bridge that impassions people to respond to each other’s needs, and the needs of the world around them. From the heart, we work to build capacity by promoting a culture where obedience is not assumed.
Diversity is our strength; our communities become healthier when able to support one another. The process of collaborative organizing is a delicate process that requires humility, respect, and patience. Without collaboration, there is no support for diversity; without diversity, there is no grassroots activism. In our organizing we are dedicated to collaborations amongst communities, ideologies, people, and places.
When actions are direct, they become an opportunity to empower those who are involved. We focus on creating a positive alternative to the things we criticize most, and focus on building the capacity to mobilize in the future. Every action we take is a celebration of our community, and the victories are a celebration of our effectiveness.
